Why GBV Persists and What Must Change Now

“Poor education on human rights and under-resourced institutions are fueling the rise of gender-based violence (GBV).”

This powerful insight emerged during GADA’s 30th Anniversary, where advocates and experts engaged in a critical dialogue on the systemic barriers undermining justice for survivors. The discussion highlighted how weak institutional capacity, limited public awareness of rights, and delayed justice processes continue to enable GBV and deny survivors timely redress.

Advocates emphasized the urgent need to strengthen legal frameworks, improve enforcement mechanisms, and invest in public education to ensure that laws designed to protect are not only enacted but effectively implemented. The conversation also called attention to the gaps in accountability that prolong justice timelines and discourage reporting.

As we mark this milestone, GADA reaffirms its commitment to advancing policies and systems that protect the rights and dignity of all individuals.

The time to act is now. Join us in advocating for a safer, more just, and equitable society for everyone.
