Gender and Development Action Launches Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership Project in Cross River State

Gender and Development Action (GADA) has commenced the implementation of the Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership Nigeria (RWVL-N) Project in Cross River State, marking a significant step toward advancing the rights, leadership, and economic empowerment of women and girls in the state.

The five-year initiative is implemented with support from ActionAid Nigeria and funded by Global Affairs Canada. It builds on the achievements of the first phase of the Women’s Voice and Leadership (WVL) Project, which strengthened women’s rights organizations and advanced gender equality across Nigeria. The renewed phase continues this momentum by addressing the persistent funding and capacity gaps facing women’s rights organizations, particularly those supporting women experiencing multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination, including those in conflict- and crisis-affected communities.

In Cross River State, GADA will implement the Women’s Economic Empowerment, Leadership and Trade intervention under the broader project theme, “Women’s Political and Economic Empowerment for Sustainable Women-led Systems in Governance and Development.” Through this intervention, the organization will strengthen women’s leadership and participation in decision-making processes, expand their economic and trade opportunities, and contribute to more inclusive governance and sustainable development.
